The topic of electronic waste (better known as e-waste) is explored and the little known facts of what has traditionally been done with this waste are revealed. The film showcases the work of one ethical recycler in Vancouver – Free Geek – and their efforts not only to dispose of e-waste ethically, safely and locally but also to provide volunteer opportunities as well as rebuilt computers to marginalized members of the city of Vancouver. The making of this film spawned two e-waste collections in my own community in my attempts to provide Free Geek with e-waste donations and to provide my community with a much needed service as a means of properly disposing of their unused, unwanted and unusable electronics.
