Help Mary Save Coral – Named after Dr. Mary Hagedorn’s website, this  Smithsonian Institution biologist based at the University of Hawaii’s Institute of Marine Biology cryogenically preserves coral in the hopes of one day being able to  replenish our oceans with them when they become extinct. I travelled to the Island of Oahu to visit with Mary and to receive an introduction to the work she is doing there. Mary explains in easy to understand terms, how critical coral are to the survival of our oceans and the impact that global warming is having on this animal. Yes – coral are animals!
