THE CHILD IN NATURE

A film about nature deficit disorder, a phrase first coined by world renowned best-selling author Richard Louv, describing the disconnect between people, especially children, and nature. I travelled to San Diego to interview Mr. Louv who specializes in raising awareness about the importance of connections between family, nature and community. An underlying theme throughout the movie is that you can only care about what you about. In other words, if we are to conserve and preserve nature and our environment for future generations, we first have to be aware of what’s at stake. The implications of not making and retaining connections to nature have implications for the health and well being not just of young people but adults as well. Viewers are left with suggestions for action and the message that we can all make a difference.
